Curved Paws / Knuckling In Dogs

           today's post is basically on the knuckling or a curved paw in dogs. I have heard a lot on this and had question on how to cure this. It is just so sad to see your dog walk uncomfortably showing a discomfort with their paw. To some of you who have not experienced this scenario in dogs maybe wondering ' what is this knuckling? ' Well the answer to that is simple. Knuckling of paws is a serious problem found in dogs where one of their paw or paws will be folded backwards. And they won't be able to walk properly. If you ever find such an issue or a symptom of it don't think of anything take him to a vet as soon as possible and try a way to cure it. This is what a knuckling / curved paw looks like.



What is paw knuckling in dogs ?

Knuckling is when the top of your dog’s paw drags along the ground as they are walking or Paw knuckling in dogs is when a dog walks with his paw bent over. Knuckling can happen in the hind limbs, but it is more common for the front legs to be affected. It is generally a neurological problem.  In many cases your veterinarian will recommend doing a serious of tests to rule conditions out. Treatment will depend on the cause of knuckling. Physical therapy will most likely be needed and may include hydrotherapy, acupuncture, laser therapy or hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Is knuckling normal for dogs ?

Just like us, dogs can experience arthritis and other issues that alter their gait. A little stiffness is perfectly normal, but knuckling is not normal. Knuckling in dogs refers to when a dog bends his wrist, flipping his paw under his leg and walking on the top of his foot rather than on the bottom.

  2. Wait to see if the dog corrects this and picks up the foot, or if they leave it there.               If your dog leaves their knee area resting on the ground, this is a sure sign that they are suffering from knuckling
